Welcome Students, Parents, and Visitors!

I am honored to be a member of Forest Park Elementary School for the past three years and counting!  The 2018/2019 school year marks my 23rd as a teacher.  In my teaching career I have taught all elementary grades Kindergarten through six (I also mentor and instruct adults obtaining their teaching credentials).  Prior to moving to Portland I worked in a variety of Distinguished Southern California urban and inner-city schools.

I hold a Doctorate of Education from the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education.  I am a
National Board Certified Teacher as well.  I am proud to have joined Portland State University, Graduate School of Education, this past summer to begin pursuing my Initial Administrator License.

I consider teaching to be one of the most important jobs in the world. It is my job to keep students safe (physically and emotionally) and help them set and achieve personal goals, think about thinking, recognize patterns, think critically, and problem solve.  My hope is that students increase their love of learning.

When I am not teaching I enjoy reading (novels, historical fiction, auto-biographies and biographies), researching my genealogy, gardening, and eating great food! I enjoy time with friends and family exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest!

I am a lifelong learner, I love education, and I am excited to arrive at school each day ready to teach and learn!
